Abstract. Animals’breeding in Mureş County. This paper aims to examine the 2016 spatial distribution of the main branches of zootechnics in Mureş County. The largest livestocks were poultry (1,626,876 animals), followed by sheep and goats (513,422), pigs (118,515), cattle (70,724), horses (12,638), 78,145 bee families, 6,373 rabbits and 585 fur animals. In terms of animal production, we have the following statistical data: live weight of cattle for slaughter, 11,473 tonnes, and milk yield, 2,279,149 hl; goat and sheep milk 340,993 hl, wool 830 tonnes and a live weight of 25,619 tonnes; production of pork 13,049 tonnes; for poultry, 7,936 tonnes and an egg yield of 212,926; for rabbits, 17 tonnes live weight; a honey yield of 637 tonnes.
