Abstract. – The Methodology of Identifying Local Identity Features. A Case
Study: The Identity of the Community in Runcu Salvei, Bistriţa-Năsăud County.
Local and regional identity is a hot topic for those involved into territorial
planning and development because identity is a resource that ensures cohesion an
is a resource for medium and long term cultural and economic development. In
this paper, we used a case study to exemplify the methodology to identify
characteristic identity features at the local level. We identified the local
identity features of the human community in Runcu Salvei village, in
Bistriţa-Năsăud County. In order to do this, we took into account the historical
evolution of the settlement, its toponyms, ethnography, folklore, occupations
and handicrafts, as well as the way the inhabitants or those who knew them wrote
about people in Runcu Salvei and about their village: descriptions,
representations, cultural landmarks for identifying the community and their
settlement, representative and emblematic people.
