ABSTRACT. – Landform elements conditioning Mediaş town’s development and evolution. Generally the development of urban settlements is characterized by a growing number of inhabitants; this fact leads to an increase of the area occupied by socio-economic objectives in the building area. The situation is specific to Mediaş city too, which, especially in the second part of last century has doubled the number of inhabitants in a few decades. This fact led to new land occupation to support population and economic growth. Due to geographical location in a valley corridor, the conditions imposed by the terrain proved to be both favourable and restrictive.

Keywords: landscape, human settlement, development.
