Abstract: The particularities of the earthquakes in Vrancea. The unique seismicity of Vrancea resides from the concourse of conditionings in this area and is due especially to the great tectonic mobility. The frequency of seismic movements in Vrancea is high and they usually have an intermediary character. They frequently take place in the same seismic focus, but, fortunately, the catastrophic earthquakes do not have aftershocks. The careful surveillance of the epicentral area is a first step in predicting earthquakes and avoiding human loss in case a major seismic event is produced.
